Diary of a Layman #11 (Summer 2008): THE MYTH OF LOST is here!

Share

MOLFrontCover5x7.5_72resHiSatGreetings to you—my loyal Layman/Lost Update readers!

After two years of talking about it, THE MYTH OF LOST is finally here!!! At last, you can read the book that offers a fascinating solution to the mysterious television series and reveals how the show contains startling hidden insights into the mysteries of life!

That’s right, THE MYTH OF LOST: Solving the Mysteries and Understanding the Wisdom is now available at Amazon.com in soft and hardcover versions!

Click here to check it out!

Now you can be the first one in your city, state, or even country to own the only published book written by (pick one: your close relative, your good buddy, your friend of a friend, someone you barely know but sends you relatively entertaining emails every so often). If at all possible, please purchase the book on Amazon.com this Sunday night (9/28/08) between 10PM and 11PM EST (7PM-8PM Pacific Time). If you can’t do it then, or received this message too late. Please buy the book between those times on Thursday October 2nd (the night of the VP Debate.) Think of it as a virtual book buying event! My hope is to get a high ranking on Amazon (for at least an hour). Isn’t this fun? You guys are all a part of this! Feel free to watch the numbers yourselves during those times to see if they make any impact (look under the book’s product details for sales ranking, it’s not there now because the book hasn’t sold any copies yet.) The book just got posted on Amazon yesterday, and doesn’t even have any official images yet…or reviews.

And that’s not all!
Since I’m giving you the very first sneak peak of this book before anyone else, I am relying on those of you who really love the book (or are convincing liars) to write an enthusiastic review on Amazon (and/or BarnesandNoble.com to help boost sales! Posting a review is EASY! On Amazon, under the title on the main page of the book where it says “no customer reviews yet” click on “be the first.” Or, if there are already reviews, scroll to the bottom of the last one and click on “create your own review.” Then, write something (without any spoilers about the theory please) that you think would convince others to buy this book (and don’t forget to give it a high star rating!) For those of you who happen to share my last name, please DO NOT post a review using an email that has your name in it, (uh, mom). If you don’t feel like writing a review, but want to help out, search for the most convincing positive review you can find (once several are up there) and under it, where it says: “Was this review helpful to you?” Click on “YES” Also, for those who are interested, I would be thrilled to count on you to be an official Myth of Lost promoter—posting to Lost websites and blogs about the book (but no spoilers please! Once you know the theory, please don’t give it away—just tell people to read it for themselves!)

But wait! There’s more!
I have recently created a fan page at Facebook which will be the home hub for everything Myth of Lost until the official website is created. This will be the place to go to find out about parties, book signings, events, and incredibly fun things that you’d feel really crummy about missing! So join today by clicking the link below and then clicking on “become a fan”—it’s 100% free! (If you don’t have a Myth of Lost icon under the pages section of your profile, you aren’t a fan.)

Click here to join The Myth of Lost Facebook Fan Page!

Not a member of Facebook?
Joining takes two seconds! Just go to Facebook.com, write down your name and email and you’re in! Then you can befriend me and see photos of all the kooky things I did this summer. Embarrassing photos! Some of which you may be featured in too and might want taken down immediately! But you won’t know unless you join! (I’m joking, the only embarrassing photos are of me…and…uh, the people at my “Dress Like Your Favorite Superhero Trapeze Birthday Party”—but that’s it!)

Speaking of Parties…
Save the date!!!!  Saturday, October 11th beginning at 1PM and going until at least 7PM or possibly much longer, I am going to be having a cool MYTH OF LOST Book Release Party at Water Taxi Beach in NYC! (Perfect for a Lost party!)

WaterTaxiBeachDayWaterTaxiBeachNight

That is, if my books come in time!! Unfortunately, the official invite will have to be sent last minute, but if the iUniverse smiles on me, the party will be held on that date (rain or shine, they have massive tents with DJs and such.) Details coming soon!

And if you order now…
You should get your book in time for the party where I’ll sign it with your name, possibly even spelled correctly unlike all the book signings I’ve been to that are dedicated to some guy named Mark Oraminher. (Should you not get the book in time, simply use the Amazon book as your book to read and make a commotion with while on the train or in the beauty salon, and use the signed book from my party to keep as a mint-condition collector’s item (or give it to a Lost fan friend as a gift. It also makes a really cool mouse pad!)

All kidding aside…
I just want to thank all of you for taking this journey with me. It wasn’t always easy, but when I thought about Andrea and Aaron laughing about some funny part, or Clare and Eileen being impressed with one of the Lost revelations, or all my spiritual buddies feeling a touch of light at some hidden wisdom in the book, I knew I had to go through with it. (Of course, I also thought of all those rejection letters I got from agents and publishers and how badly I want to succeed so I can prove those folks wrong, but I guess that remains to be seen.) Honestly, I can’t do it without you guys. Seriously, getting tons of positive, enthusiastic reviews on Amazon and spreading the word on Lost sites is really important and I can’t do it alone! You are the seed level—the first audience to view this book and I need you to help it grow! While I don’t expect everyone to love it, I am hoping that a majority of you enjoys it enough to want to spread the word! (Even if you don’t watch the show, I think you’ll like the book. But don’t read it if you plan on ever watching it because it does give away a lot of things. Read it once you’ve finished with Season 3.)

I know many of you are especially looking forward to the Layman book. In all honesty, that book contains so much wisdom and light, it was bigger than I could handle. Much bigger. I had to grow myself by writing this book first and learning the ropes of publishing and publicity. The good news is that I actually put some of the insights from Layman in the Lost book, so it’s a pretty good sneak peak of my writing style and philosophies. The Lost book is meant to be a platform for the rest of my writing career. If the book does well, it is very likely that I will find the strength to get back to Layman and get it published. What’s interesting is that Layman is about a character who discovers secret messages hidden in TV shows and shares them with the world. I began writing that book about four years before Lost premiered! It’s almost uncanny. As I’ve said, I truly believe Layman, and even some of the loftier points of The Myth of Lost, contain wisdom that can help enlighten the world and help make it a better place. Won’t you join my Justice League of Enlightened Superheroes to help save the world?

You can begin by forwarding this very email to every single Lost fan or spiritual person you know and asking them to do the same for their Lost/Spiritual friends, or even just their friends who are lost. While it seems odd, this book written by an ordinary guy about a cult TV show really does contain life-altering wisdom in it. At least, that’s what I’m hoping. If this book changes just one person’s life for the better, it will all have been worth it. I hope that person is you.

May your inner spark grow to light your way,

Marc

*New Friends:

If you aren’t familiar with the story, here’s a brief synopsis:

The Layman’s Answers To Everything is a spiritual comedy (or spiromedy) about an unlucky guy who believes he’s meant to do something amazing, but has no idea what it is. After experiencing many challenges and meeting a bizarre cast of characters, he stumbles upon secret messages hidden in TV, movies, and music that are aimed at guiding humanity. Using these messages, he starts a new religion which changes his life, and ultimately, the world. This is so much more than just a story though, because throughout the journey, we learn how to discover and fulfill our own destiny using the clues of the universe that are all around us.

I truly feel this book is going to make a real impact on the world, and set into motion a spiritual domino effect that’ll help change it for the better. And judging from the way the world is heading, I’m thinking that changing the way we’re heading would be a good thing, no? If you don’t agree, or would just prefer not to get any further emails from me, just let me know, and I’ll take you off the list—no hard feelings. Of course, I can’t promise that my book won’t track you down and find you anyway, but you have a while yet to worry about that.

**The LOST book is called, The Myth of LOST: Solving the Mysteries and Understanding the Wisdom. It not only reveals a solution that explains all the mysteries of the show, it also explains how the show’s wisdom can be applied to our real lives.
