Diary of a Layman #7 (Summer 2007): The Blue Pill or The Red Pill?

Share

red-pill-or-blue-pill There’s a great scene in The Matrix that really reminds me of what’s going on in the  world right now.

MORPHEUS

We are trained in this world to
accept only what is rational and
logical. Have you ever wondered
why?

Neo shakes his head.

MORPHEUS

As children, we do not separate
the possible from the impossible
which is why the younger a mind is
the easier it is to free while a
mind like yours can be very
difficult.

NEO

Free from what?

MORPHEUS

From the Matrix.

Neo looks at his eyes but only sees a reflection of
himself.

MORPHEUS

Do you want to know what it is,
Neo?

Neo swallows and nods his head.

MORPHEUS

It’s that feeling you have had all
your life. That feeling that
something was wrong with the
world. You don’t know what it is
but it’s there, like a splinter in
your mind, driving you mad,
driving you to me. But what is
it?

The LEATHER CREAKS as he leans back.

MORPHEUS

The Matrix is everywhere, it’s all
around us, here even in this room.
You can see it out your window, or
on your television. You feel it
when you go to work, or go to
church or pay your taxes. It is
the world that has been pulled
over your eyes to blind you from
the truth.

NEO

What truth?

MORPHEUS

That you are a slave, Neo. That
you, like everyone else, was born
into bondage…
… kept inside a prison that you
cannot smell, taste, or touch. A
prison for your mind.

Outside, the WIND BATTERS a loose PANE of glass.

MORPHEUS

Unfortunately, no one can be told
what the Matrix is. You have to
see it for yourself.

Morpheus holds out a red pill in one hand and a blue in the other.

MORPHEUS

This is your last chance. After
this, there is no going back.
You take the blue pill and the
story ends. You wake in your bed
and you believe whatever you want
to believe.

The pills in his open hands are reflected in the glasses.

MORPHEUS

You take the red pill and you stay
in Wonderland and I show you how
deep the rabbit-hole goes.

Neo reaches for a pill but stops as MORPHEUS breaks the silence.

MORPHEUS

Remember, all I am offering you is
the truth. Nothing more.

Neo opens his mouth and swallows the red pill.

MORPHEUS

Follow me.

Can you feel it? That more and more people are taking the red pill. They’re waking up to the illusion we all live in and trying to help the world unite to our common destiny. In fact, there’s a movie coming out about this very subject. It’s called The Shift Movie and I expect it will help open even more eyes.

I also recently watched the first two parts of an amazing presentation about The Secrets of The Mayan Calendar. I got the chills watching this. Its predictions are very eerie. If they’re true, we are going to be in for some very interesting times in the next 5 years.

Interestingly, a lot of the concepts I expressed in the Layman books * and even my LOST book** are explained in the Mayan video, but from a completely different perspective, which to me, serves as additional confirmation as to their validity. The presenter in the video, Ian Lungold, uses the Mayan calendar to show how there is a certain path our world is following that explains many of the changes that have been happening all around us. There’s an evolution of consciousness that is woven into the fabric of our universe, and that consciousness is about to go into hyper-drive. I recommend this for anyone looking for answers to what’s been going on in the world lately.

Just like much of the rest of the world, I too am working to direct the consciousness of this planet. Even subtle things like this email update can make a huge difference. This email goes out to hundreds of people, and yet, if it inspires the behavior of only one, that little nudge will change the course of our collective destiny. It may not sound like much, but if you’re on a large ship and you turn the wheel only a fraction of an inch, I assure you you’ll end up in a different place then where you were originally going.

I’m hoping that the first major difference I make is with my book that explains the real-life significance of the TV show LOST. I am currently about 3/4 of the way updating the book for the third season, and will then most likely use an on-demand publisher to bring the book out into the world. I expect this will happen just as LOST’s 4th season begins running early next year.

In my last update, I mentioned the Enlightened Warrior Training Camp that I was about to attend. Not only was the experience itself incredibly enlightening, but it was such a great feeling to meet so many like-minded people, all working toward a common goal. Living in the hub of materialism that is NYC, it can sometimes be a challenge to keep on the spiritual path. But I believe that if you can live here and manage to keep to that path, it makes you even stronger. While I admire the dedication of monks who cut themselves off from the world to submerge themselves in spiritual practices, really, that’s less of a challenge then living a spiritual existence in a material world, let alone one as material as New York. Though, even New York seems to be going through a dichotomy—with every superficial posh club that opens here, a new yoga studio or spiritual program does as well. With every promotion of a Wall Street Broker, someone is leaving his or her job to become a life coach or to open a spiritually themed tea shop.

My hope is that my books will encourage people to follow their heart in spite of the inconvenience to their lives. In the long run, they will feel much more fulfilled. And our world will be all the more better for it.

So what will it be? Will you take the blue pill or the red pill? If you can’t decide, ask the universe to give you a clue. Then, keep your eyes open for the answer. If it’s anything like the one I got years ago, it’ll probably make you laugh.

May your inner spark grow to light your way,

Marc

*New People:

If you aren’t familiar with the story, here’s a brief synopsis:

The Layman’s Answers To Everything is a spiritual comedy (or spiromedy) about an unlucky guy who believes he’s meant to do something amazing, but has no idea what it is. After experiencing many challenges and meeting a bizarre cast of characters, he stumbles upon secret messages hidden in TV, movies, and music that are aimed at guiding humanity. Using these messages, he starts a new religion which changes his life, and ultimately, the world. This is so much more than just a story though, because throughout the journey, we learn how to discover and fulfill our own destiny using the clues of the universe that are all around us.

I truly feel this book is going to make a real impact on the world, and set into motion a spiritual domino effect that’ll help change it for the better. And judging from the way the world is heading, I’m thinking that changing the way we’re heading would be a good thing, no? If you don’t agree, or would just prefer not to get any further emails from me, just let me know, and I’ll take you off the list—no hard feelings. Of course, I can’t promise that my book won’t track you down and find you anyway, but you have a while yet to worry about that.

**The LOST book is called, The Myth of LOST: Solving the Mysteries and Understanding the Obsession. It not only reveals a solution that explains all the mysteries of the show, it also explains how the show’s wisdom can be applied to our real lives.
